Handling Aggressive Dogs

New Born Puppy Care

Puppies are always welcome entries into a household. They bring a lot of mirth, and joy. Cute to look at, puppies are a refreshing way to keep children interested and also stay at home! Much like babies, puppies too need good care. If you have a puppy which does not have its biological mother with it, you need to take the utmost care of it.

Puppies have high morbidity rate because they can’t express themselves like human babies do. Their sounds of uneasiness might be mistaken as general  animal noise. So many people miss out on reading the symptoms of a puppy in distress.
After feeding the puppy, stroke them gently. This keeps them warm and also aids in their digestion. They may also need some of the stroking to urge them to eat. If you have seen how a dog licks its new born puppy you would know the reason why it’s doing this.

You need to bathe the puppy in lukewarm water. This activity increases blood circulation in the puppy. The puppy might have cold limbs, which can loosen up a little with a healthy warm bath. Use a soft towel to soak the water from the puppy’s body. Don’t use a heavy towel, as you might suffocate the puppy.

Don’t every use soap. Use plain lukewarm water. Soap might contain chemicals which might get into the mouth of the puppy. So avoid this as far as possible. Give them moist food to chew. Don’t make them chew hard food. As they grow, they will develop teeth. When this happens, you can mix some hard food with some moist food.

Introducing a Cat into a House with Dogs

Fighting like cats and dogs goes the adage. Truly, cats and dogs can’t see eye to eye. The enmity between them is legendary like the French and the English. Yet they have been domesticated over centuries by humans.

Dogs just hate cats. Not sure if its true the other way round. But if you can find a way to introduce a cat into a house with a dog, there could be a long-lasting friendship between the two animals. So how’d you do it?

When you bring the cat into a house, do not expose it to the dog right away. The dog might kill the cat. In fact, the dog will kill it. Set up a room where you can quarantine the cat safely away from the dog. Do this for about a week. Let the cat stay there.

Let the cat settle in first. Get the cat accustomed to the surroundings. A dog will imminently realize that there is a stranger cat in the room. You can fool the blood-smelling Dracula, but not the average dog. Once you have settled the cat in, your cat should start settling to you. The signs of which are if it comes to you, and not hide about.

Now is the time to introduce the cat to the dog. When doing this, please do leash your dog. Or at least put it in a cage. As you do this, walk the cat about. You will hear sonorous and thundering barks. The cat might get dazed, but keep the cat in good humor by petting it and moving it about.

Once they sniff each other, the job’s done.

When the Dog Attacks

A dog is an animal after all. Getting angry is one of its few emotions. Domesticated for centuries,the dog has learnt to live with human beings. Yet, sometimes dogs can become ferocious and attack people. Dog bites are common across the world. People do not know how to react to a dog that comes to attack. Chained dogs are always aggressive. They do not like to be chained because it restricts their movement. And if you come close to them, they might snap.

Don’t panic when seeing a ferocious dog. Dog’s sense fear very well. Put up a brave disposition. Remain calm and sangfroid. Don’t make sudden movements. Don’t try to shoo the dog away. Walk steadily, and as if you don’t care –  “Let barking dogs bark”!

In many cases, you won’t know this until you call and ask. It can’t hurt to make the call. It can only help you in the long run.

3) Ask friends and family. You may know someone who has an inside scoop on finding dog-friendly apartments. If you know someone who has gone through this search themselves, they may know a landlord or rental company that allows pets.

Though it can be difficult to find the perfect apartment that will allow you to keep your dog with you, it is definitely not impossible.

Common Health Problem in Pets

There are some health problems that can be caused by pets, but there are many situations when the pets are the ones that are seen to be suffering from various diseases. Pets in Pet Shelters are Likely to Contract Diseases

Pets are kept in pet shelters in many situations. This is true in cities where people are not able to ask a friend to take care of a pet because of the busy life schedule. The only option that is left for many pet owners is to leave the pets in pet shelters.  This could be a good option if not for the fact that the pet shelters are the places where many of the animals contract various chronic diseases.
